One of the things that stood out to me when traveling in Athens, were the different looks and styles the women had. I'm a total people watcher... I love watching interactions and just looking at what people wear. Chris tells me all the time to stop staring, but sometimes I can't help it, I just get into this daze of people watching.
It was dinner time, the city was shimmering from the rain and we were hungry. We stopped for a gyro and pop near Syntagma Square. There are department stores and a few major retailers in the area like H&M and Zara. Women walked around in small groups, huddled under umbrellas, excitedly shopping, clutching their shopping bags, super proud to have purchased something from these big name stores. Tourists were slowly absorbing all the smells, the busy-ness and the sight of the Acropolis glowing in the background on the top of the hill. Locals walked with a certain edginess like the graffiti that was seriously EVERYWHERE in Athens. Lots of leather jackets, ripped jeans, cropped tops, coloured hair and menswear inspired pieces. One I'll probably adopt will be the oversized wool coat.
These coats instantly dress up a pair of runners, dress down heels and make everything look comfy-cozy. It's a silhouette you may need to get used to when first trying it on, but like trying anything different, just be confident and you can pull it off.
